Fundamental
law Awareness at Grassroots Levels (FLAG) project
Background:
Access to justice of a lay man is very difficult in
Pakistan due to many reasons specially illiteracy and lack
of awareness. Keeping in view the situation DevCon – An
Association for Rural Development had submitted a project
titled “Fundamental Law Awareness at Grassroots Level
(FLAG)” to Law & Justice Commission of Pakistan.
The sponsor LJCP agreed and provide financial assistant
for the project.
Project
objectives:
To train local Government
representatives and provide awareness to people at mass
level regarding family law, human rights criminal law,
Sindh tenancy act, registration act and succession of
property.

Four
month (July 2006 to October 2006
Target

Taluka Shahdadpur district
Sanghar, Sindh
Achievements:

A training module for the
union council representatives has been developed
-
Two book lets in local
language i.e. Sindh & Urdu have been developed
-
2800 book lets have been
printed for public awareness
-
169 representatives of 13
UCs of talukas Shahdadpur have been aware and informed
about more than 75 sections/articles of the six selected
laws/acts through 13 training workshops of two day each.

Approximately 2600 peoples
of the talukas Shahdadpur have been informed about the
six laws/acts through 13 seminars.
Advocacy Campaigns for education:
DevCon
since two years has been organizing Global Action Weeks (GAW)
in district Sanghar with Indus Resource Center, under
Global Campaign for Education by Pakistan Education
coalition (PEC). This activity gives DevCon a credit to
work for education development in district Sanghar.
