villages i.e. Khabar Gahoo, Khudadad Kapri, Sultan Kapri,
Jumoon Kalhoro and Jamal Abro of Talukas Shahdadpur and
Tando Adam , district Sanghar Sindh.
Beneficiaries:
300
students (250 girls and 50 boys)
Objectives:
1.
Provide quality primary education specially to girls in
the villages where girls do not have access to primary
education because of unavailability of government/private
schools.
2.
Organize and empower communities through Village Education
Committees (VECs) to manage project initiatives and also
struggle for getting government schools sanctioned and
made operational in their respective villages for future
sustainability.
Achievements:
§
Three hundred students who previously had no access to
quality primary education are being provided with quality
education at doorstep.
§
Ten local trained female teachers are not only delivering
quality education but are also social leaders and role
models for women in the respective villages.
§
After observing the quality education being acquired by
their daughters, parents feel motivated to send their
female child to school on the priority basis.
§
In two schools, communities have hired additional teachers
and are paying salaries by themselves in order to respond
to the increasing demand for new enrollments.
§
VECs has stared putting pressure on government boys’
schools to deliver quality.
Future
Plans:
DEVCON
has plans to open more community schools in the district
Badin and Sanghar in those communities where children
still don’t have access to education.
Special
efforts will be taken to arrange education for working
children who either have missed their schooling age or can
not accommodate themselves in the current schooling
systems.
