Beneficiaries:                        300 students (250 girls and 50 boys)

Objectives:

1.      Provide quality primary education specially to girls in the villages where girls do not have access to primary education because of unavailability of government/private schools.

2.      Organize and empower communities through Village Education Committees (VECs) to manage project initiatives and also struggle for getting government schools sanctioned and made operational in their respective villages for future sustainability.

Achievements:

§         Three hundred students who previously had no access to quality primary education are being provided with quality education at doorstep.

§         Ten local trained female teachers are not only delivering quality education but are also social leaders and role models for women in the respective villages.

§         After observing the quality education being acquired by their daughters, parents feel motivated to send their female child to school on the priority basis.

§         In two schools, communities have hired additional teachers and are paying salaries by themselves in order to respond to the increasing demand for new enrollments.

§         VECs has stared putting pressure on government boys’ schools to deliver quality.

Future Plans:

DEVCON has plans to open more community schools in the district Badin and Sanghar in those communities where children still don’t have access to education.

Special efforts will be taken to arrange education for working children who either have missed their schooling age or can not accommodate themselves in the current schooling systems.
