JOB PURPOSE:

The Livelihood Officer is responsible for project implementation and achievement of project goal and objectives for Livelihood component. The Livelihood Officer will work under the direct supervision of the Project Manager and in close coordination with Save the Children Project Manager Livelihood / Officer for technical assistance and support.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • To assist the Project Manager in the development of Livelihood plans and responsible to implement project activities as per project plan.
  • Under the direction of Project Manager and in close coordination with technical manager from donor ensuring best practices and quality in all Livelihood project initiatives.
  • Actively coordinate with M&E Officer to ensure that appropriate monitoring and impact assessment mechanisms and tools are being implemented within Livelihood component.
  • Ensure that line management is updated with latest information on key developments in the Livelihood component of the programme.
  • Ensure all the objectives along with indicators as outlined in the project proposal are met while ensuring high quality.
  • Take full responsibility of the Quarterly Bi –annually and annual reports. Prepare budgets and regularly update them, take approval as per organizational procedures.
  • Provide assistance to Project Manager to develop effective functional networks with other actors working for the furtherance of children’s rights and development of District Livelihood Plan.
  • Represent DevCon before the Government and its departments, partner organisations, donors and the public, as well as within the wider organisation, as appropriate for experience sharing and learning from the project.
  • Include child participation in all project work, wherever practicable, and seek to develop and incorporate child-friendly methodologies to promote child participation in project implementation.
  • Apply in all project work approaches to child- rights based programming, diversity / non-discrimination, children as stakeholders, impact assessment, and organisational learning.
  • Participate as appropriate in assessments and responses in the case of humanitarian emergencies.
  • Ensure child protection policy across the all the activists of Project. 

 

PERSON SPECIFICATION:

 

  • Post-graduate degree in social sciences, economics or related discipline with minimum 05 years of experience in development organisations.
  • Good analytical skills backed by experience that spans areas such as field / action research, and field experience in programme management.
  • An in-depth understanding of development issues pertaining to children.
  • Experience in implementing programme interventions based on rights perspective.
  • Experience of working with children and local communities in child rights perspective.
  • Ability to appreciate children issues in the context of the community and the macro environment.
  • Ability to innovate along with a positive attitude to learn from communities.
  • Skills related to participatory research methods, computer literacy, financial management.
  • Good communication skills both written and oral. Fluency in English. Knowledge of local languages will be an advantage.
  •  Ability to write high quality reports on programme interventions.
  • Ability and willingness to travel widely and frequently.
  • Strong interpersonal and negotiating skills:  tact, ability to accept criticism, tolerance, assertiveness, the ability to adapt behavioral style to the circumstances in order to achieve positive outcomes.
  • Sensitive to child protection issues.
  • Ability to understand and comply with security guidelines.
